Asian Road Cycling Championships 2019
Four Medals for Iran
Asian Road Cycling Championships was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan 23rd until 28th April 2019. Beside that, Road ENC Course, ACC Congress and UCI Anti-Doping Seminar were also held as planned.
Iranian national team achieved the following results:
Men Elite Road Race:
8th place - ARIYAN Behnam
11th place - SAFARZADEH Saeid
13th place - POURHASHEMI Hamid
32nd place - SOHRABI Mehdi
There were 62 riders at the start and GIDICH Yevgeniy from Kazakhstan managed to win the race.
Men Elite Individual Time Trial:
8th place - ARIYAN Behnam
19 riders were at the start while FOMINYKH Daniil from Kazakhstan won the Gold.
Women Elite Road Race:
Bronze medal - YAZDANI Somayeh from Iran
11th place - DEHGHAN Mandana
65 riders started the race and ZABELINSKAYA Olga from the host country, Uzbekistan won the race.
Women Elite Individual Time Trial:
10th place - DEHGHAN Mandana
11 riders at the start and ZABELINSKAYA Olga from Uzbekistan won the Gold.
Men Under 23 Road Race:
Gold Medal: GANJKHANLOU Mohammad from Iran
the race was held in a tough situation with 52 rider among whom only 38 could pass the finish line. Other Iranian rider, JAMSHIDIAN GHLEHSEFIDI Amirhossein finished 18th.
Men U23 Individual Time Trial:
JAMSHIDIAN GHLEHSEFIDI Amirhossein finished 3rd and won a bronze medal while riders from Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei topped respectively. 18 riders from different countries were at the start.
Men Junior Road Race:
KHAKI Masoud was the Iranian participant in this event who didn't finish the race due to an accident during the race. 50 riders started the event while only 35 of them finished the race after the massive crash. The Thai rider, SOSALAM Tullatorn, won this race.
Para-cycling Individual Time Trial:
5th place - MOHAMMADI Mehdi (C5)
This is while, the Iranian rider had the best time among all riders in C1 to C5 but got ranked 5th due to the time deducted (by ratio) form C1 to C4 riders.
Masters Individual Time Trial:
Silver - MOHAMMADI HA Hossein
Iran finished the event with 4 medals while they have been participating in the races with the minimum facilities for training and also staff.
